By the way, Ireland and England are two different countries.

Irish "thugs" are called knackers.

If you are talking about redneck as in hillbilly then the closest thing you would get to that in England or Ireland is a farmer.

You know I think the concept of "redneck" is an entirely american phenomenon.  Thugs are entirely different.
