  1. The country submits a bid.

  2. for when?

  3. well, I can actually answer there.

1st. The Nation's olympic comittee picks a host city. USOC picked Chicago for 2016. They've chose a couple for 2020, but those cities have to beat the other US cities first. Boston, Houston, Minneapolis. are the majors. The USOC will use the olympics review thing to look at transportation, saftety, etc. then the OC of the US will pick the winning US city. and carry it on to try and win.

Cities bid to get the Olympics. There are MANY things the IOC looks at. First, location. You can't have the winter olympics in Columbia. so, that's a first. They also look at safety, transportation, and just public decensy. (aka, they won't have the olympics in Amsterdam). I'm not sure what it's exactly called, but search on google for like "2016 survey points/ credits". They've already done them and Rio and Chicago are at the top. Now, they also look at where the were just located. I personally think Tokyo will be out for 2016, because Asia has them 8 years before, and close to Tokyo (beijing). I think Spain will be out because of their racy photos, and because London has the olympics 4 years earlier. Now, I believe it will come down to Rio and Chicago. which is what everyone is thinking anyway. Chicago SHOULD be the winner, because Rio has the World Cup in 2014. if you ask me, the country will have way to much pride for 2 years... and since they are both MAJOR sporting events, they should space them out.

    Chicago 2016.

  4. I think the country applies for it, then an Olympic Commitee reviews the aps.

  5. Money, a great plan and spend on a lot of gifts and bribery.

  6. There is a Official Olympics Committee that chooses cities who have enough space and who can afford to host the Olympics.  After that they narrow it down somehow (I don't know, sorry =[ ; maybe by voting?).

The bottom line though is that the city has to be able to AFFORD to host the Olympics there.

  7. evidently not by their human rights record...

  8. The Olympic "council" basically votes on and chooses the host. But also a country sorta has to be ready to do it and take on the responsibility of holding it.

  9. the olympic conitie gets toghter and looks at possible places they chose from their
