  1. "Character" is the public display of "personality."

    Personality or Self is who you are on the inside...character is how you show it to others.

    How one treats others is a sign of social interest. Adlerian psychotherapists see increased interest in others as a sign that the patient is improving in terms of mental health.

    Dr. Alfred Adler's word for it was "Gemeinschaftsgefühl." He said this is central to the human community and its members. The word is usually translated as “social interest” although sometimes as “community feeling” or “fellow feeling.” It has often been compared with the Golden Rule.


  2. a person's behavior towards others is indicative of who they are - for example, if they're empathetic or not; listen to others or only themselves; generous or selfish; helpful or disinterested in another's plight, etc.
