I have not been to Switzerland. I would like to know what is the process involved to validate a swiss pass to start using it.

How about flexi pass? How to keep track the number of times being used?

  1. No matter what train pass you have, a Swiss Pass or Swiss Flexipass to validate it is very simple.

To begin using your pass, go to the ticket window at the rail station before boarding your first train and have a railroad official enter the first and last day of the validity period on your pass. The railroad official will also stamp your pass and you will have to show your passport.

To keep track the number of times is also very simple.  Before you board your first train of a particular day, you must write in the date BEFORE a train conductor comes and check.  So if you have a 3 day pass, and you are now getting on... you will now have 2 days left.  Hope this helps.

  2. Usually, there are also machines at the train stations where you can have your pass stamped to show when you started using it. The train conductor would also gladly do it for you. If it is, say valid for 3 days, you may use it for as many times as you want within 3 days.
