  1. Well, I was watching Dirty Jobs last week, and they turned green algae into red algae by agitating it, and made it into a supplement.  It is supposedly really good for you.  I can't remember what it was called, but I would say for medical purposes.

  2. Algae, particularly our blue-green algae provide nitrate fertilizer for plants growing in damp soil or in the water. We can not survive without nitrate, as it is needed for our protein.

Yes, we can produce nitrates artificially, our 'chemical fertilizer' or we can produce ammonia  or urea to replace it. But  those fertilizers do require large input of energy.

Algae can also be used for bio fuel, and provides large numbers of chemicals used in a few plastics.

Because blue-green algae produces nitrates, it can be used in production of explosives as well.

  3. they do no good they consume the oxyden in the water so as a result there is not enough left for fish so they die
