  1. It's a very UNSELFISH thing to do. I am an army vet who is currently married to an army guy. He stays in the army so that our children are guaranteed to have a roof over their heads and food on the table.

I also grew up with a dad who was in the army...it was fun moving all the time and getting to see new places.

  2. My best friend and best relationship ever..... my husband, joined and it ruined our relationship. We are both very rational and considerate, it really was a great relationship-- and well were now divorced. Very sad. It changed him and our lives in every conceivable way.

Everybody's different though. But, I will say all he people I met while living as a wife of.... the relationships arent so great.

  3. Its challenging but the Army does try and take good care of the family.  The family has to accept the idea thought that at any time that Soldier could deployed for a year or more.  But the Family Readiness Groups and the Support Channels built into the system really are excellent.

  4. Selfish.  A person with children shouldn't join the military.

ADD:  You're putting your life in danger.  While honorable, this is not something you should do when you have children; especially since there are countless other ways to support your family.  I happen to think joining the military is a parent's way of escaping your day to day parental duties.  Single mothers who do this are especially deplorable.
