How is biking in Madison, WI for the whole family? What are the best trails?

We are considering camping at Capital Springs State Park. Is that a nice place and is it easy to go downtown by bike from there?

Madison is a VERY bicycle friendly city.

There are several great paths around Madison; I personally like Capital City Trail.  There are also several where you can kind of do your own thing and go through campus and out to Hickory Point.  Here is a good trail guide. http://www.wisconsinbiking.com/trails/in... . You can also stop into Williamson Bikes or Machinery Row and get maps of local trails.
