How is biomass made?

  1. It grows--biomass is the stuff of living things.  The word is usually used in discussing fuel sources, and biomass for fuel usually comes from plants grown in the standard way.  I guess that means that biomass mostly comes from the sun, with a little credit to the soil, water, and the seed.  

    Our biggest issue with biomass for fuel at the moment is that there is no cost-effective way to turn cellulose containing waste materials into fuel, so we are forced to decide whether to eat our crops or turn them to alcohol and burn them.
