How is catalytic converter related to global warming and environment?

  1. A catalytic converter splits exaust fumes and leaves some sort of fluid, the best answers you will find for it is on Wikipedia.


  2. Catalytic converters help oxidize petroleum products.  They create CO2 in larger amounts but reduce the volatile emissions (including benzene).  The hydrocarbons will oxidize eventually so I am not sure how catalytic converter could do anything related to presumed global warming related to CO2.  The reduction of certain volatiles is certainly beneficial.  Benzene, for example,  is a carcinogen.
