  1. I have verizon and I go home several times per year. My phone works fine, I live in Kingston so that means more service towers.  The cost of taking calls there is expensive, almost $2 US per minute

  2. You could go to Verizon and tell them you need your phone to be in roam mode and they will tell you but i cost or you could just purchase a Jamaica cellphone chip and replace it in the position of your Verizon chip then add credit to it.

  3. I have verizon too and just came back from a 2 week cruise and the only time I really had service was while we were at sea.  I never had service on any of the islands except PR.

  4. Nextel doesn't work either. I would buy a calling card.

  5. Okay, here's what you do:

After arriving in Jamaica you can ask one of the employees in the hotel where you can get something called a cellphone 'chip'.

You have to buy this chip and replace it with the existing chip in your cellphone.

After buying placing the chip in the cellphone, you're gonna need phonecards, commonly called 'credit'. Prices vary on the amount of money you want on you phone and they range from $JA100 to $JA1000 cards. Preferably, as I said before you should ask a hotel employee and they will tell you what you should do and /or where you should go.

Also, Jamaica doesn't have networks or providers for Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and any other providers like in the US. There are only three providers, Digicel, Cable and Wireless and MiPhone.

If you need any more help Or if you don't understand you can  feel free to message me.

  6. It stinks if your are planning to go to jamaica change your network.
