  2. It depends on a couple things.  First the custodial parent is the one who is awarded child support.  Keep in mind the child support is the right of the child and not the parent so if you ever decide to try to not make the father pay it the court will question you.  Second it is determined by your income and his; not your spouses unless one of you is unemployed.  The child is assigned an amount for living expenses depending on the child's age.  Also there are extras such as is the child insured or which parent has the better insurance.  After it is determined how much it cost to raise a child (and they don't give you enough to raise a kid) then they will also look at if there are other kids in the support system.  (That is actually the answer that I was looking for).  After all that is determined they will use the formula to get an amount.  Just remember if it is you that is looking for the support and he doesn't have a job be smart and take care of you and your kid(s) always tell the monitor to consider his potential.  There are so many things that they can do but wouldn't unless you know to bring it up and ask them to do it.  Their job is to be neutral. Hope this helps a little.

  3. usually to the mother but it all depends who is better suited... who can hold a steady job and has enough time and money for the child and good background ect
