How is dublin expensive!?

Question

So far, from my research, only the rent is VERY high. Bills are moderate and water is free there! Food etc is the same as the big cities in the UK e.g London, Manchester, Leeds etc, as are clothes/gadgets etc. Oh, and cars & gasoline rates are high too.

How is dublin expensive then !?

I was in London last month and found it more expensive than Dublin. I'm not talking about the West End, either. It was 5.50 Sterling for a pint. Everything else was either on a par, or more expensive, than in Dublin. We pay for water in our taxes.

Rent, parking, beer. No one ever said it was more expensive than London. Well if they did they were wrong.
