    Disconnecting from real emotion is the easiest way to do wrong without conscious.

Like it or not, ethics is involved in everything we do - it essentially is acting in consideration of everyone else.  Since sociology is the study of groups of people (in society, a culture or a geographical region), they are governed by values andnorms - some are legal (as in policies and laws), and beyond that is ethics - the foundation of a national belief system in how everyone "should" act.
