In Romeo and Juliet foreshadowing is used to show the deaths, however I would like to know how foreshadowing is used to show that Romeo and Juliet will fall in love. Thanks!

  1. i'd have to say act 1 scene 2; benvolio convinces romeo to go to the "capulets" party and says,

"go thither and with unattained eye compare her face with some that i shall show and i will make thee think thy swan a crow." (which hints that romeo will meet someone other than rosaline.)

then in the very next scene, Lady capulet tries to convince juliet to agree to a planned marriage, but when juliet says,

"it is an honour that i dream not of." (in reference to marriage)

i think that tells us that she's going to try and go against her mother and fall in love with another.

i dont know if that was what you were after, but hope i helped. =S

  2. Well the only thing I can think of is in the prologue of the play:

Two households, both alike in dignity

(In fair Verona, where we lay our scene),

From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,

Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

5 From forth the fatal loins of these two foes

A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,

      Whose misadventured piteous overthrows

Doth with their death bury their parents' strife.

The fearful passage of their death-marked love

10 And the continuance of their parents' rage,

Which, but their children's end, naught could remove,

Is now the two hours' traffic of our stage—

The which, if you with patient ears attend,

What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

So deriving the foreshadowing from that it would be when it says "A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life"
