How is gas compressed into tanks?

Question

I want to learn how to take the hydrogen gas I am creating via. electrolysis and store it in used, empty propane tanks. Someone please point me in the right direction as I have had no luck on youtube or google. I need to know what is required to get the gas into the tanks. I know it must take an air compressor pump of some sort, but I need details! I need to know what exactly is needed and how to do it.

If you know, please answer.

(and please don't bother if your answer is going to be along the lines of "you're going to blow yourself up" or any reason why you don't think I should be trying this)
