of course global warming is not allowed to happen. it is happening because many people do not abide by the rules and regulation made by the country they reside in. the policies by the govt. are made to curb global warming but people actually are not understanding the aftermaths of global warming and do not know what disasters we will be facing in near future.  well....global warming is happening because we are filling the earth's atmosphere with CO2 which has a property of trapping the heat from the radiation of the sun and the heat the earth's atmosphere which will consequently increase in earth's temp. n finally melt the ice caps which might flood all the earth.......glad to help

Global Warming is the average increase of the Earth's temperature and in the media, is usually associated with today's heating.

It is not "allowed" to happen; and there are no "rules" to abide to, Global Warming is happening because of our emissions. Like carbon Dioxide that comes out of every fosil fuel- powered thing we use. Which is like, everything. Coal, gas, you name it, we're probably using fossil fuels to power it.

And it is a nonresusable fuel, as in it will run out and its emissions are carbon dioxide, the main contributor to the Gren House Effect. (the things thats tipping the scale on gobal warming/climate change. ) And the reason why it is still happening and people aren't taking more awareness to it is 1) nobody wants to believe it 2) some people over exaggerate it and try to lock people into the idea out of fear 3)ignorance.

Its basically proven that it is real, you can see the effects now. I guess you just have to take initiative yourself to do something about it. Like those new light bulbs, our driving less so you don't have to spend money on 5 dollar gasoline.

please be careful with what you say, the theory of 'global warming' cannot be proven. however, it can be proven wrong. There was a meeting in New York with a petition signed by real scientists that arent Matt Lauer or any Liberal TV Newsgoers. Go on youtube and look up people that show you that 2 percent of the greenhouse gasses are manmade. I know what I'm talking about. people need to hear this out, there are books against this theory, have respect for yourself to go out and research than just to react by what you hear on TV or what Al Gore Says, this theory goes with more purpose than what is really in front of the government table. a Trillion Dollar tax bill we will have to pay for to fix something that doesnt even exist? please be careful.

Can you stop nature from doing what it wants to? No you can't. I also think you should get a basic science education. If you had one you'd know this isn't an abnormal occurance. How do you think we come out of glaciation periods or mini ice ages? Are you aware they started measuring the rise in temperature after the last mini ice that ended in the late 1800's? If you stop and think about this you'd realize its only natural for the planet to requalize itself at a warmer level after being over cold for an extended period of time.

Some gases ("greenhouse gases") let sunlight in, which warms the Earth, and then block that heat from leaving. That's the "greenhouse effect", and it's a natural thing, mostly caused by water vapor.  It's like putting a blanket on the Earth.

Man is making excessive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels. That causes the delicate natural balance to go out of whack and the Earth warms. That's global warming.

It won't be a Hollywood movie style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

I'll agree with Cub.... that "have respect for yourself to go out and research than just to react by what you hear on TV or what Al Gore Says"  But the bogus argument that Man is not important because we only contribute a small portion of the greenhouse gases is refuted here:

Global warming is happening because cars put to much carbon dioxide in the air which makes the temperature warm.
