  1. i live in the calif desert and the summers have been getting cooler.

we use to have 5 to 15 days of over 120 degree days in the summer.

now it has been 4 years since the last 120+ days

  2. You mean deserts?

CO2 makes very efficient use of water as many greenhouse (plant growers) will pump in 1000 PPM CO2 to greatly improve  and speed up plant growth.

You might review this web page:

Africa's deserts are in "spectacular" retreat:

I presently am in CA desert - I've never seen such spectacular flowering in Joshua Tree National Park!

    "What’s Blooming Now? January 14, 2008

Naturalist Bill Truesdell has identified 75 species of blooming wildflowers and shrubs in the Pinto Basin, Fried Liver Wash, and Cottonwood Canyon. It is unusual to see this many flowers in January."

I would love to see earth at 1000 PPM CO2 - this could truly be a "Green Planet"

  3. Don't worry, be happy.

  4. Global warming is changing the world in many different ways.....it all depends of the areas of the world.

Some deserts acually are recieving more rain than before due to the cause of climate change and Global Warming.

Its  as if the world is changing all over again. Like scientists have cloncluded that some mountains were once sea beds. This conclusion was made as archeologists found ancient marine fossils ontop of mountain.

This is proof that Global Warming is Speeding up the change in Environmental Change.

    **************************************...

While in other places Global Warming is causing more extreme weather rather than a change in weather.  Like answer #1 said, some deserts are "...getting hotter during sunlight hours while it gets colder when the sun goes down."

  5. Some are shrinking and some are growing.

  6. I think you probably mean deserts. Desserts are puddings. Good luck in your research.

  7. by makeing the days hotter and the nights colder! i think.

  8. Fairly convinced that global warming will not have an impact on any desserts, For a while I was worried about icecream, but then they invented Dippin' Dots, Those will last long enough to be eaten in all but the warmest climates.  Now that I think about it, creme brulee might be easier to make if it gets warm enough that I don't need to mess with that torch, it scares me!

  9. "Global Warming" is a media-perpetuated myth.

There is widespread climate change, but it's not humans that are causing it.  We are just polluting the planet.

Anyway, the deserts are becoming dryer, and are expanding.  This is happening more in North Africa than any other place.

    (Note: desert has one "s".)

You could check Wikipedia for more information.  Or check out the National Geographic page.

A desert is usually defined as having very little rainfall and vegetation.  The Atacama – a desert in Chile, is the driest place on Earth.  It hasn't rained in over 400 years.

  10. The warmer it becomes the faster deserts are turning adjacent sodden land into sand, currently at 1metre per year by the sahara desert

Read furthur down about sea beds being mountains and so forth, if you want to widen that thought out a lot, then you may as well say our significant impact on this earth is minimal, if you look even furthur back in time you will see the earth having huge oxygen deposits, the main proof of this were the current organisms on earth, looking at the geological time scale you can clearly see a downward spiral of the size of living creatures, extinct creatures had way bigger diaphrams mainly due to the oxygen levels they had to process at the time, as we depleted oxygen levels the creatures are naturally going to get smaller.

  11. i expect that all the other kids will talk about how deserts are expanding.

however, did you know that antarctica is also a desert?

at least the interior of it.

it gets less than 10" of precipitation a year.

so your paper would be different, and could be interesting, if you reported on changes that are occurring in antarctica.

    good luck.

  12. Global climate change is creating a new desert right now in the S.E. US! In just a few years, people will have to relocate.
