  1. it tells us how things came to be the present

  2. History repeats itself.  By studying the things that have happened in the past, you can pretty much guess what is going to happen in the future.  History also helps you understand the Bible.  An example might be  WWII, it is only a prelude of what is about to happen in a few years.  This time it will be the people of the U.S. that are the persecuted

  3. It reminds us of who we should hate and why.  Those that remember the past are indeed doomed to repeat it!!!!!

  4. Everything is determined by prior circumstances

Therefore understanding our past helps us to predict our future

  5. It is good to know what has gone on before us, so that we can learn from others' mistakes.  This helps us cope with the future.      Grams

  6. the best politicians are history buffs. Politics and history go hand in hand. Look at the Cold War time frame. That was nothing but politics at its best. economics are involved with history also. every hist class i had about europe especially  discussed economics. history is VERY beneficial due to it making you REALLY understand what is going on today.

  7. uhhhhhh I forgot. Get it?

  8. If you don't understand the lessons of the past, you are condemned to repeat them in the future.

Not an original answer, --  I forgot who to credit for this quote.

  9. History tells us about ourselves and how our world became the way it is today.  It is useful for learning lessons about mistakes people have made in the past - with the hopeful goal of avoiding repetition.

If you think about it Melissa - the future never arrives and the present is a fleeting microsecond. By the time you say the word "now", that utterance had already become history.

If you care about your parents and grandparents - who they are, where they came from, and what their lives were (or are) like - that's history.

If you like music, sports, or thousands of other interests - - they all have history.  It's interesting and fun.  I suspect the problem with many history courses is that they don't usually cover the parts of history that are fun to students.
