I'm working as a temp in my country (Asia) now. Work from 9 to 6 and no overtime work, doing simple job as data inputting. Getting approx. 1000pounds / month with no bonus. The contract period varies, so I tend to change my job every 3months or so. I wonder would it be the same in London?

  1. what is your name

  2. you may get better money in the UK but the taxes here on everything- from food to rent to council tax... everything is taxed, and travel to and from work is extortionate (people cant actually afford it and have to drive) means that any extra money you earn wont really be yours.

On top of that, any money you earn will be taxed, and you dont see that agan for dust- unless you count the robes on the backs of the polititians and royal family.

Stay where you are- atleast you can have time to see your family, here its like if you arent doing overtime you can put your position in jeapordy, meaning you loose your job, so family time isnt always an option- that is if you actually felt upto it after travelling in sardine tin like crammed buses/tubes/trains.

And changeing jobs every 3 months? you are playing with fire, youm loose your job or have to change jobs and dont get another one and you may not have enough to pay the (very very high) rents, and even if you do apply for state benefits, they wont come in for about 6 weeks, not many landlords will let that happen, and thats if your lucky, the benefits people make many mistakes, you can appeal but ti takes months ot overturn a decision, even if they made a very obvious mistake.

London is good if your working in the city in finance, then you can afford to really live in the city and not just work to eat and sleep in the city.

  3. stay in asia, london can become so boring when the novelty wares off, it can also be expensive too...

  4. I have worked as a temp near london and the pay was about £1000 a month for the same job. But London is the most expensive place to live in the world I wouldn't recommend working there if you don't have skills.
