How is it even possible that Valdosta (Georgia) was voted Titletown USA over L.A., Boston, and N.Y.?

can someone please explain the rationale behind awarding a high school (division II college) town as Titletown USA?

shouldn't Valdosta have been awarded Titlevillage USA?

Probably because the people of Valdosta, Georgia have nothing better to do than click 'vote' on ESPN.com all day?

Because the id!ots down at ESPN have too much time on their hands.

Maybe because NY and Bos get so much attention they felt it would be better to give the title to some unknown one horse town

Well if you think about it, it is referring to a town. Not a city. So Valdosta would fit perfectly. Besides if you combine the titles that Valdosta High, and Valdosta State have won, then those cities can't compete.
