How is it legal for shows like "intervention" to show illegal drug useage?

  1. You're right!  Breaking the law, is breaking the law. My guess would be that the program is for educational purposes and the people who are staring in the shows get help.

The same way it is legal for shows like CSI, Law and Order and others to show illegal crimes like murder.  It is television.  Anything that is a "re-creation" is not a crime but rather a portrayal of a crime.  In scenes showing actual drug users using drugs, they have likely struck a deal with law enforcement and agreed to appear on the show and accept the treatment in lieu of prosection.  Also, there is educational value to these types of shows.

    What can I say, Hollywood can literally get away with murder!
