How is it possible for anyone to enjoy air travel anymore?

Seriously, with all the extra fees, delays and cancellations in your flights, invasion of privacy in your personal belongings and upon your own person (security personnel taking way too many liberties in searching you for weapons, and basically feeling-you-up) and every little thing being scrutinized, why in the world do we even bother anymore?

I mean they are even charging for non-alcoholic drinks, and you can't even take a water bottle with you, to re-hydrate while on the GODFORSAKEN plane. Then the planes sit waiting 8 hours on the runway while you are trapped like caged animals with no where to go. No other coorporation would be able to get away with this kind of c**p, they would be out fo business by now.

I realize there are governement regulations since 9/11, but planes are no safer now then 7 years ago (studies have proven this) AND PLEASE DON'T ANSWER WITH THE SAME OLD EXCUSE ABOUT THE FREAKIN' COST OF FUEL. I don't see how that is any excuse for lack of FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!!!!!!!!

  1. It's hard times for the airlines and instead of being fiscally responsible they're foisting off charges onto their customers, even the ones who are loyal and have had frequent flyer accounts for 20+ years.

The only advice I can give is to get a bulk head seat when possible (more leg room) and take an EMPTY water bottle (like a Nalgene) through security (I recommend leaving the cap off so they can see it's empty and so they won't hassle you) and fill it with tap water when you're inside the "sterile" area. Tap water is better for you than bottled anyways.

As for security experience as a whole, just bear with it and be cooperative no matter what. Some TSA people are just awful and won't give anyone a reprieve. It's especially frustrating because if someone REALLY wanted to get something through without being caught or figure out how to blow up the plane it wouldn't be at all difficult. The procedures are to make people FEEL safe - even when they do "tests" on the security systems more often than not the watchdogs/TSA hired testers get tons of stuff through. Just grit your teeth and remember that you'll be out of there soon.

  2. it's hard i know but it can happen

  3. It isn't possible, we are just cattle being herded from one side of the world to the other, and because it is not enjoyable, not as many people are flying... thus the Airline crisis, they can't get us there because flying is almost as painful as going to the dentist. It is cheaper to fly, but sometimes it is just easier to drive.

  4. How? By accepting it as what it is rather than being a whiny overgrown child.

Not all airlines are charging for non-alcoholic drinks, and nothing is stopping you from buying your on the ground and bringing it aboard. And yes, you can bring a water bottle. In fact, it's a good idea. I generally do.

No one sits on the runway for 8 hours, but I know what you're talking about. When, by the way, was the last time you were trapped on a plane  on the ground for a fraction of that?

Airlines aren't inspecting you personal belonging or feeling you up.)(Actually, my guess is that no one is feeling you up, but if anyone is it's not an airline employee

  5. I think that you're kinda over exagerating, i mean there aren't many extra fees, just maybe for food domestically, the drinks a free, the runway is only like 10 min, actually not even, the TSA rarely do what you said about "Feeling", the water bottles make sense if you think about it, and, would you rather die? Flying is the best way to travel, it's relaxing for me, and without those regulations, thousands of people would die, it would be like the earthquake in China forever. And if Flying is so bad, what do you suggest to do when trying to get to far places, i travel out of the country every year across the pacific, i leave on the atlantic, i don't feel like driving to the west coast which could take up to two weeks, then taking a boat which could take 2 months, when flying is only 2 days, actually not even.

  6. I hate that the passenger is being nickel and dimed for everything.  However as passengers we are always asking for super cheap airfare even when the price of fuel was over $145 some time ago.  Someone once asked on Yahoo Answers to help them find a flight from New Jersey to Jamaica for under $200 on a last minute flight.  As passengers we do have a right to good service and to be brought back to the airport if there will be significant delays.

I don't think air travel will be like the 1950s when people dressed up to fly.  But some airlines do offer pretty good service.  For example Singapore Airlines has won numerous awards for in-flight service.

  7. Because poor people like you think they deserve to fly. If you want service fly a proper airline or if you still ain't happy, go get a private biz jet.

  8. What's the actual question?

  9. Well, the delays and cacellations of flights started happening a long time ago.

But yes, I do agree with you on the lack of privacy of personal belongings and the "feel you up" thing (thank god I haven't experienced that).

But I mean think about it, I rather have them check througly through everyone's belonging than not. It's security measures. I do think its a pile of bullocks, but in the end, it's all for our safety.

  10. it's a h**l of a lot better than driving in my opinion. so much faster
