    This semi-gregarious creature is often seen in small groups. It is diurnal, but spends the hottest part of the day resting among the rocks. It moves about on bare rock, where there is no apparent foothold, without difficulty. The texture of the foot beneath the hoof is rather like hard rubber. It can make impressive leaps and bounds, during which its legs remain stiff. It feeds on grass and can go for a long time without water, making do with the liquids contained in the succulent plants on which it feeds.
