How is it possible that hair can take high heat?

But it's so fragile that it can break off!

I understand that it can melt at VERY high heat, but when I'm curling my hair I'm more worried that I'll burn my hand rather than my hair. So why is that?

  1. its possible becuase it also does get burned and damaged you just cant feel yuur hair.


  2. Hair stylists talk about how your  hair needs to be healthy, but I read that its just dead cells. Who knows. I guess because it doesnt have nerves?

  3. The color of your hair can make a difference for example darker hair absorbs more heat than lighter hair, which reflects it. Just becareful you don't use too much heat. Although, hair is made from dead cells, it is still fragile and using too much heat from hair dryers and hot showers could be the cause of some hair loss. By applying too much heat you can dry it out.
