It seems that every race and event I watch breaks another world record? How is this possible? Have humans become ultra talented and fit, or is there something else going on behind the scenes?

  1. NEW TRAINING TECHNIQUES, THEM HIRING TOP OF THE LINE NUTRITIONISTS AND PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

  2. I think a lot of it has to do with refinement of training techniques and the technology of equipment and uniforms. The athletes of today eat differently and have carefully prepared training regimens.

  3. Performance enhancing drugs and supplements.

  4. Certainly in the swimming, these new fancy suits that have been approved for use are seeing records tumble but any athlete competing aims to be at peak condition for the games giving them the best chance of breaking records. Some reporter on the television said 25% of all competitors that are able to set records (i.e. not tennis or baseball etc) set Personal Bests at the Olympics.

  5. It's modern training methods- the British success in the velodrome is due to the setting up of a national cycling centre in the UK and it is devoted to turning out champions using the most up to date methods. It cost millions of pounds but it has paid off.
