How is it possible to become a knight now? (except knighting by the Queen of GB or by other monarchs)?

  1. There's the Order of the Golden Fleece.... but that is a very exclusive club. If you were eligible I think you would already know about it.

    EDIT: I should have thought of those that Mark has mentioned.  I was thinking of specifically chivalric orders, and the Hospitallers etc. are strictly speaking  not chivalric but military orders...... but what the heck, he is right they do have knights, and I think noblesse is optional.  



    See link below  where you can learn about the different orders ad find the history and what is still existing... not just this page but elsewhere on the website info on orders from many countreis and also look up "Knight" in Wikipedia.

    Be careful of "pseudo orders"   ... there are some groups that take the name of an ancient order and claim to be it to sell memberships to people and will I'm sure gladly take your money.  I think such groups are often connected to fake titles of nobility too.


  2. How about the Knights Hospitallers (Knights of Malta), the Ecumenical Order, or Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem?

  3. You can only be knighted by the Queen over here in the UK.
