For the sorry times

inside us,

in a moment

bare and biased

as the apple

temps and tries us,

there’s spirit

here to guide us,

  1. I love when you write like this-- sparsely with universal imagery. That spirit seems to be guiding us toward love and sometimes good poetry, even great poetry.

  2. Do you know when you die, they're going to preserve your brain in a pickle jar....then spend squillions of dollars trying to figure out how come it was once filled with such unique poetry.

Pared down to the bone...rhyming to perfection and with something to say. Brilliant

  3. Great poem.

    Brief and full of hope.

    Thank you.

  4. I absolutely LOVE this!

  5. What did Mr. Lincoln say, "the better angels of our nature"?

  6. It's the spirit

    That we choose

    And a bit

    What we lose

    With our wit

    In the noose.

  7. line 6: it's tempts not temps (simple typo I think)

Your poem is a wonderful piece of writing.  When done right, one doesn't need saga length poetry to be quite profound.  And I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment that spirit is always here to guide us.  The choices we make though, ahhhh a horse of different color! Nice work.

  8. Sounds like a plan.

  9. Good only created evil to have somebody to beat up on. Just like beauty made ugly, sweet-sour, hot-cold, yin-yang (I don't know if that's spelled correctly I've never seen it printed). You get my point.

Yes, little words with big meanings this morning. (I heard some where though that it was really a pomegranate.)

  10. I don't know that good ALWAYS triumphs over evil, but it eventually does yield to the law of reciprocity.  And speaking of our upward reach, it's there.

  11. It will simply triumph YOUr inner, simple, ALWAYS, you have a choice: the good/the evil.

Nice is when you see that all the evil can be translated into something good. And this is happening ALL THE TIME.

    :)

  12. First of all you must define what you mean by "good" - you will find that "good" or "bad" is relative to whichever side you stand on.  Putting qualitative emotive meanings on random occurrences simply indicates which side you are on.

  13. If we allow our conscience to guide us and let truth and honesty be our foothold... If we show compassion to all mankind and strive to be better than what we are... then each of us can overcome the evil that resides within us.

I do believe there is a God and I have a soul... but I also find that I don't want to be associated with organized religion. I can read and I can experience, and I alone can decide what I choose to believe as we all should.

I believe there is good in all of us... so your simple poem has meaning for me...

  14. "Hi!",

  15. Good triumphs over evil?  Since when?  What planet do you live on mate?  Cuckoo land with the fairies?
