  1. Global warming is the cause of it because polar bears require cold temperatures to survive and if global warming keeps on getting worse than polar bears wont be the only animals going into extinction, many more will join them

  2. You're assuming the number of polar bears actually is decreasing.  There are studies which show the polar bear population to be booming.

  3. You have asked two questions here, but I'll answer the second one first.  The numbers of polar bears are not decreasing, rather they are increasing.

Now, the reason that they are placed on the threatened (not endangered) list is because enviromnentalists know that by going one more step to the endangered level means that man will be prohibited from disturbing their natural habitat.  In their habitat (Canada, Alaska, Greenland and Norway) there are estimates of very large oil deposits and environmentalists fear that oil companies will move in and ruin the areas.  Environmentalists are very against any search for, or use of, fossil fuels.  They claim that burning fossil fuels causes carbon emmissions that add to global warming (which many educated people believe is also false). So, it's much easier for them to lie and tell you that the polar bear populations are decreasing and that the ice caps are melting.  (There is some melting in the ice but this is normal.  Sailors hundreds of years ago found open waters and were able to navigate through to the Pacific from the Atlantic.  Other years they found thick ice.  It's cyclical, and by this year they could be growing again.)

The current number of polar bears is estimated at about 25,000, most of them in northern Canada.  This is the highest number since we've started studying them.

  4. They refuse to obey Coast Guard regulations to wear a life preserver while riding around on icebergs.

  5. It is because of global warming. You see, because of rising carbon dioxide earth is getting warmer, since it traps heat. Because of that all the polar ice is melting, which is suppossed to be the polar bears' habitat. And, obviously, because of no place to live, they are now endangered. Studies show that due to no ice polar bears just keep swimming and swimming in search of ice and never find it, and drown. Drowned polar bears have been found for the first time in history.

  6. Why would you think the number of polar bears is decreasing?? The numbers have went from about 5000 in 1972 to about 25000 currently, not an expert here but I think the definitive word would be INCREASING not decreasing.

By the way, polar bears are excellent swimmers, it would be very hard to drown a polar bear even if you tried.

  7. if someone takes your home & throws you out, will you be able to live??

same in the case of polar bears

due to global warming glaciers & ice caps are melting

this means they are losing their habitat which results in their death due to unfavourable conditions!

  8. Polar bears live in Arctic. Due to Global Warming the snow at the poles is melting and the temperatures are extremely cold in the interior for the bears to survive. They are thus trapped. Moreover the melting or separation of the ice sheet is gradual and thus once the sheets get separated, bears are left on them to die. People in Arctic on expeditions etc. are also killing bears.
