  1. Just race your own race. By focusing on what you are doing you would be surprized at how good the outcome will be. The other guys always think about trying to get over on someone but don't let that stop you. Also pay attention to where you are on the track (outside, inside) where the grove is. Remember to adjust to your bike (forward, middle or back) when you need to so the corners will be tighter for you.

Don't try to go all out in your first race. Gett comfortable with your bike and your surroundings then everything will fall into place.

  2. Well my first race was when I was 7 and I'm 15 now. I also have a yz125, although it's an 06. If it's your first race, I wouldn't worry about fitting in or sucking or doing good. Just go out in the class you think is right and ride as best you can without getting yourself hurt. The best thing to do is try to make friends at the races because chances are, you will most likely see those guys at that track the next weekend or the next time you go racing. Making friends is always good, especially if they're faster or more experienced because you can hang out between motos and get tips on techniques over jumps, corners, or whatever. If you're waiting in line for practice or before a race, talk to the guy (or kid) next to you. Most of the time the people are nice but there's always jerks out there. Just forget about those guys, make some friends and go ride. Besides, I'm sure you won't be the only person going to their first race there.

  3. you will probably be a lapper but will get better with time.
