Question:

How is military child support calculated in MI?

I live in the state of Michigan. My husband is in the active Navy and stationed in Norfolk. We are getting a divorce. How will child support be calculated? Will it include just his base pay or also his BAH? Will he continue to get BAH living on his carrier even if he only has our son as his dependent? He currently lives on the ship and we get BAH according to my zip code. I am going to school and am not currently pulling an income, how does this factor into the child support? Any tips on where to find this information out. My attorney does not know and would have to research it, instead of paying her $250.00/hour to research it I'm trying to find out for myself.

  1. strictly up to the laws of the state you are divorcing in.

  2. Well since this sounds more of what you can get then your child...

The truth of the matter is...it doesn't matter where you live...

You get nothing...you lose all benefits...immediately...

He is required to support his Child only and only after

a DNA test proves that it his Child...

He will lose his BAH...except for the part for the child...

  3. it will go off his base pay, and if you get custody then he wont be getting bah but the child will stay on the medical...... and its calculated like regular child support in your state

edit - then yes they only go off the base pay amount, nothing more
