Question:

How is misogyny synonomous with anti-feminism?

I'm quite interested since a couple of members of this delightful section have pinned misogynistic labels and hijacked misogyny as the reason why individuals become anti-fems. Please explain the direct transition because it sounds like you're no better than those who accuse all feminists of being misandrists.

  1. Misogyny, femism, masculism, and misandry are all offshoots of some pretty weird and unsavoury attitudes to life.

Why can't men and women just get on with each other without one constantly thinking they are "superior" to the other?

As an equalist, I am not particularly concerned with men's rights or women's rights. They are irrelevances. I am more concerned with PEOPLE's rights.

  2. The first answer is basically right. "Anti-feminism" is a hard category to define, though, because feminism itself is so broad...not all feminists think alike, and there's lots of disagreement within the larger movement. There are a lot of people on this board who call themselves "anti-feminist" because they're opposed to one particular (extremist) version of feminism, and they associate that with *all* feminism. Which isn't the case at all.

You can define misogyny as hatred of women, but I think it's more than that--I think it's really just complete and utter disrespect. "I'm unwilling to listen to you *because* you're just a woman. All women are deceitful and treacherous by nature. Etc."

Doggie, for instance: "All feminists are treacherous man-haters, and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying." That's news to me. I have lots of feminist friends, and they're grad students in women's studies at big liberal universities. Man, it's a wonder I'm still alive!

  3. Yeah, it's about absurd a concept as I've seen.  Anti-Feminism is rational just as taking cover in the event or a tornado.

MIsogyny is hateful just like any other hateful philosophy, e.g. Nazism, modern Feminism, or utter misandry by any other name.

Modern Feminism is hatred of men.  Anti-feminism is a reasonable measure of self-preservation.

But a genuine modern Femist who actually recognizes just how hateful this lecherous movement is won't tell you that, because that would be self-incriminating.  The poor young women that are brainwashed by the cult of utter hatred are often too misguided to recognise this egregious movement for what it genuinely is, since prominent academicians in the disciplines of "Gender & Women's Studies" are all too often utter misandrists that are advanced into positions where they influence developing young minds to hate.

    It's just that simple.

  4. They're not synonymous.

    Misogyny is hatred against women.

Anti-feminism is the opposition of women's concerned equality among men, when it comes about rights. Not necessarily men hating women because they oppose their equality theories. Men will still love and support their lovers being women, but not necessarily taking a stand for their beliefs in what they want for equality, freedom and liberty.

I'm quite aware that you know this, but... feminists aren't misandrists, but merely hold strong beliefs in a good balance-nature between men and women, rather than empowering over them. People are getting feminism and female-maneater a little too far and exaggerated.

  5. To put it in short anyone, man or woman, who does not believe in Feminism does not want to see women acquire equal rights; therefore, they hate woman.  I, personally call it one of those psycho babble things they throw at us.  Allow me to demonstrate.

The post where this comes from is "I have no use whatsoever for feminism?"  The post has been deleted; don't bother looking for it. This was one of the replies.

"It's a pity that she doesn't open her eyes...she and women like her are a huge part of the problem...it isn't just men who "oppress" women it's the women, our mothers, our sisters, our friends who define what we can and cant do, and by doing so suppress our minds, corrupt our thinking and lower our self esteem!"  And the punctuation is not mine; I only gave you a quote.

I, personally, don't believe in equal rights; however, I will not, and have not stopped those who do.
