How is my 2 stroke engine harmed by my using 10-40 crankcase oil in its gas instead of 2 stroke engine oil?

    Today's 2 strokes are a very different breed from what they were even 10 years ago.


  2. 2 stroke engine oil is formulated to be mixed with and burned with gasoline. The newer formulations are termed '' ashless'' on the container (but not all of them).

    Ordinary engine oil contains detergents and other ingredients that leave a thick residue in the combustion chamber and foul the spark plug a lot faster.

    But if you want to use regular oil,,go ahead,,,,i did on all my motor scooters ,,,years ago,,and it did no harm.
