Question:

How is my baby developmentally?

My 11 week old is just starting to learn how to bat at things with his hands. He doesn't do it unless I start him off by taking his hand and batting it at the toy.

He can only stay awake during the day for an hour at most and then needs a nap.

He can hold his head up when I pick him up, but hates tummy time and can barely pick himself up when we do it.

He coos and laughs and has his own little language and he talks to himself when he wakes up. I come in the room to find him smiling and babbling.

I'm worried that his motor skills aren't where they need to be. Am I right?

  1. Your baby is doing good. Usually  babies hate being put on their tummy but, that is the best way for them to develop  stronger neck muscles.

  2. No mam!! Your baby is fine!! Remember he is only 11 weeks!! He might be a sleeping baby for the first 3 or 4 months!! But no i think your baby is just fine!! If it worries u a great deal then i would get it checked out. And if he is holding his head up then he is definately on track because some babies dont hold their head up on their own untill maybe 5 months and some 6 months. Every baby is different. My baby just started rolling over at maybe 4 months. But dont rush because you willhave to really pay close attention when he does start rolling over!!Your baby is fine!

  3. LOL I accidentally hit my daughters head on the door frame when she was a month old. No damage done. Kids hit their heads A LOt !!!!! i can't even count how many times my son has fallen or accidentally hit is little head on something. So no worries there. You son sounds right on track. Kids all devolp at different rates and the range for "normal" varies greatly. Here check out this link.
