Hi Ive been playing for lets see a year and Ive dropped my average score from 108 to 88 and I just started keeping a handicap tracker. I am now a 13 and I want to know how good that really is. My goal is to be in the single digits within the next month. I am 16 years old and aspire to have some sort of career in the golfing world.

  1. your doing very well.. if you want to drop alot of strokes off your game, learn how to be consistant on your approach.  always shoot for the center of the green, from there you can two putt and make your par.   you need to keep practicing your chips, so when you dont land on your approach.  learn how to eliminate your bogey shot from your game.  what most people dont know is your bogey shot is in the fairway.  good luck.

  2. You're playing well. According to the National Golf Foundation, only 10% of golfers consistently break 100, 5% average less than 90, and less 1% play to an 8 handicap or less. Only a relative handful play scratch golf.

So, on the whole, you're scoring very well, but still have a long way to go. The courses the pros play are set up at their toughest and longest, and they still manage to shoot UNDER par! One of the pros put it in perspective last year at the Masters, saying a 10 handicapper would have trouble breaking 100 the way Augusta was playing. A 13 handicap is a great accomplishment, just remember you've still got a lot of work ahead of you to compete with the best!

  3. IF YOU ARE COUNTING ALL YOUR STROKES AND PENALTY STROKES THEN THAT'S GREAT... DROPPING TO SINGLE DIGITS IN A MONTH WILL BE A TASK... GOOD LUCK!!!

  4. you will need to get your average score to about an 84 to get down to single digit. and even have a low round of say- 78.  practice putting and chipping and putting and putting.

  5. I'd say that you are progressing relatively well.

But you will need lots of hard work in order for you to drop from 13 to single handicapper within 1 month. I'm not saying its impossible, but it's gonna be tough. Nevertheless its good that you set yourself a target to work towards. Keep it up. You are only 16, you still got the time to make a career in the golfing world.
