  2. ^Trees have been used to make paper only since the Civil War.   LOTS of things can be used - leaves from many kinds of plants and left over fabrics, etc.  

    Making paper from recycled paper is similar - the original paper is ground up into a mush, then it's rolled out.  Paper can be recycled 9 times before the fibers are too small to be successfully rolled out again.  The last thing paper can usually be are napkins, paper towels, tissue, etc.

  4. start with a tree...then schred it into pulp...soak the pulp in water for a long long long time it turns into mush....gradually remove the water from the mush and compress it into sheets of paper...its way more complicated than that but that is basically what they do...
