  1. In the hands of van Gogh, or Leonardo, or O'keeffe ... a pencil is an artist's tool.

    In the hands of Weston, or Leibovitz, or Uelsmann ... a camera is an artist's tool.

    It's not about the tools.  It's about the vision.  And the passion.  And the willingness to experiment.


  2. Welll it is now. It once wasn't considered an art. And before it was introduced there was a council that almost banned it. When great artists started to do personal work and not work for a king, queen , or government. Then photography and personal expression through artistic means became a norm. But the "artist" as a creative solidatary individual has only been around for about 200 years.  

  3. I think anything that is creative and intended can be considered art. A photograph that is thought out and well composed can be considered art.

    An unintended photo from the "hip" is a snapshot; no matter how interesting or attractive, it would probably not be considered art. But it certainly can be displayed as art.
