  1. poetry doesn't get eaten.....

salads are just eaten without examination and poems are understood and read over and over until you do understand......?

  2. In a salad the ingredients are put in one at  a time, and then the salad is tossed -- whatever order it is then is a salad.

In poetry, the ingredients (words) cannot be put in one at a time, but must be a thought.  Sometimes a writer will toss the salad (move stanzas and words around), but in the end, the order must contain the complete thought that the writer wanted to produce.

You cannot take one stanza out as a dinner salad and maintain the integrity of the whole, while in the large salad of greens and tomatoes can have the salad divided into many parts and it still remains a salad.

  3. Typically, salads contain certain ingredients (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, dressings, etc.) which are associated with the dish and are expected to be seen when one makes or orders a salad.  There are indeed certain elements that a poem must possess if it is to be considered quality; however, the best poems and poets brought the "unexpected" to the table.  The best salads make the best use of the typical ingredients, whereas the best poems are a culmination of their own unique ingredients.

  4. It's not as bland.

  5. ok,in a salad the ingredients are put in all at once..and then tossed around in any random order..unlike in poetry where all the ingredients (words) are thought through very carefully and planned..and are done over and over again until in the perfect order..in a salad it doesnt have to be in the perfect order ad some ingredients may be left out..where as in poetry everything must be in a perfect order so it ''tastes" good..hope that helps.

  6. It s made from meat, grilled over a suffused flame, charred

  7. A great deal of it is not green.

  8. I don't pour dressing all over poetry?
