Oui is pronounced wē in french (yes)... as for the ja I have no real knowledge of any word ja pronounced jē the word ja in German is pronounced yä (yes) and doesn't exactly go along with the pronunciation story that its from french Oui(yes) ja(yes), the first part is the only part that makes any since, the person who patented it back in the mid to late 1800's probably came up with a nonsencial pronunciation for the word.

"Ja" in German is pronounced pretty much like it looks in English, sort of like "jah", but if you put it together and say it fast enough, it starts to sound less like weeja and more like weejee. plus they rhyme of it leads to a more pleasing sound.
