How is "experience" a good thing in politics, when your controlled by someone else?

Seems to me that John McCain is no longer a man with his own ideas, he is a man with George W. Bush's Ideas. If you have so much experience, why not be able to stand on your own?

  1. So because John McCain supports many of George Bush's policies, that makes his 25 years of experience in the federal government worthless?  How do you honestly connect the dots between wanting to keep taxes down and winning the war in Iraq with lack of experience or being controled by somebody else?  Even Barrack Obama has changed his tune about offshore drilling and the effectiveness of the troop surge.  Does that mean he can't think for himself too?

  2. Besides the ability to make decisions, experience also factors in to "know what we're voting for."

It's already pretty clear that Obama lacks the ability to make good decisions.  But it's also equally clear we have no idea what Obama is running on.  He's against something.. then he's for it.. then he's against it.

Voting for Obama is like buying a used, out of warranty car without ever seeing it.

  3. Bush and McCain???  They each have a head, four limbs and working kidneys.  That's where the similarities end.  Anyone who thinks of McCain as "McSame" has not been listening, and sure has never been to Arizona.

If Bush is a liberal Republican, McCain is an ULTRA-LIBERAL Republican.

  4. That may all be true, but you're ignoring the fact that he was in a pow camp in vietnam.

  5. McCain compromised his integrity when he started going against his own beliefs in order to appeal to the conservative base that voted for George W.  People forget that McCain is against banning g*y marriage on a federal level and doesn't really care to get involved in abortion issues.  He was also for legalizing illegal immigrants already in this country.  That was until he ran for president.  Unable to sell his own values to the conservative base, he has taken Bush's stances because it is easier than standing up and being his own man.

  6. I guess you get better at following orders. Who's orders does Obama follow, he didn't get there by himself

McCain and Obama are both empty suits, better to vote for Ron Paul.

  7. Because they see a lot of the same issues eye to eye ,doesn't mean he is a copy of Bush. Unfortunately, both are a part of the same political party, so there will be a lot of comparisons. McCain still has a better overall understanding of what is right for this country.

  8. Experience is relative, as long as you can smile for the camera you should be OK. No politician is a one-man show, certainly not the office of the president. Special interests, lobbyists, other politicians, business people, the electorate, they'll McCain what to do. It's probably very tough to have a mind of your own when you do that kind of work.

  9. Experience is absolutley neccessary for the position of President.  If it is no more then a popularity contest, then lets Elect Robin Williams.  He is popular and funny.

  10. The word is being worn out this election cycle.  I'm not supporting either party or candidate, so I'm free to critique both.  Hillary's "35 years of experience" is just as absurd as George Bush and his two terms as the governor of Texas.  The office is virtually ceremonial in nature.  So I'd look at this as a Madison Avenue tactic.  The word loses credibility as people use it to mask their weaknesses.

  11. mostly, only a very young person wouldn't think that experience is important...

dem or repub - experience makes a safer candidate... it means they have already made mistakes and learned from them.

    Experience is invaluable.

Disagree if you like with McCain... but not on the grounds that experience doesn't matter...

  12. two words. Reverend Wright.
