  1. I guess to believe some scientific experiment, it has to be thought out rationally.

Like: What do I want to know?

How can I make it a fair test?

    What was my predicted results?

How did the results I get differ from the ones I actually got?

    etc.

Then you have to make equations and stuff so that if people come up with a situation like the experiment, they could work out what the theoretical outcome is going to be.

  2. I think rational thinking is what politicians have,oh no , thats irrational, sorry codger

  3. It is the essence of the scientific method.  Rational thinking allows us to deduce or infer answers based on careful observation, and then allows us to prove or disprove those deductions with careful experiments.

We use rational thinking to establish a hypothesis.

We design an experiment to carefully test that hypothesis in a way to that can be repeated, and takes into account variables that may sway the results.  We analyze the results to see if they support the hypotheses (or not) and to see if other questions are raised.

We cannot reach useful conclusions about anything without the discipline of rational thinking.  If x=y and y=z then x=z must be true.
