How is recycling helpful and how is it not?

Actually I heared on the tv show, recycling is waist of your time. The government is using strong energy that can melt anything and recycling is using different energy that would cost us more in tax and takes more time.

I would say it is helpful as a lot of charities benefit by recycling cans and stamps ect but it is sometimes a nightmare to do eg:splitting your rubbish rather than chucking it all in one bag.I also dont get we all recycle our bins to make money for the goverment where is our reduction in council tax lol

conserves resources.

creates jobs.

reduces need for land fill.

saves energy.

saves money.

creates less pollution.

the only problems are that for some things it can cost more to separate it from garbage and recycle.

recycling has many uses like helping in conserving resources.but in some cases its not so possible.take the case of plastic.most times waste particles are also attached to them.in such cases the recycling company has to clean it using water.so it takes a lot of water.then if it is not high quality plastic we wont get the capital back(means no profit so no-one is ready to do such things.once recycles plastic is not good for recycling again

certain outdated forms of paper recycling used more energy

than just making the stuff from trees, but again - they are out dated and generally no longer used.

Counties could save a bundle of money and save the environment by establishing recycling centers where you take in what you don't need and pick out what you find.  How many tons of usable lumber is disposed of into landfills by homebuilders and contractors  each year?   I find many many useful items in dumpsters but the owners would rather clutter up the  landfills than let you have what they have thrown out.
