How is relative humidity obtained with a psychrometer?

Would a great difference between the wet bulb/dry bulb temps produce higher or lower relative humidity? I ask this because I can't find the answer online, and my science book is at school. Could someone explain?

  1. With a psychrometer, the simple form of a hygrometer, two types of temperature are measured. The wet-bulb and dry-bulb temperature are measured using this weather instrument, and with that information, the relative humidity can be determined using a chart. Some devices will calculate the relative humidity for you.

    Relative humidity is given by the ratio of partial pressure and saturation vapor pressure multiplied by 100. For the psychrometer, it is calculated in a different way. I cannot remember it exactly, but I think it has to do something with the difference in both the wet and dry bulb temperatures.

    A great difference in both temperatures would result in a lower relative humidity. If the wet bulb and dry bulb are equal to each other, 100% realtive humidity has been achieved.
