  1. its huge man!

can be intimidating, and there is a certain vibration and rhythym which still amazes me everytime i go there. Its mostly just a 'business' city, although there are some things for tourists.

Like any Brazilian city, it has the rich parts (Jardins) and the favelas (slums), which usually lie on the outer. However all people come to the centre, the poor to sell things, the wealthy to work in their office blocks.

The weather, can be very cold in winter (some days just 10º celcius), and in summer can be in the 30s everyday, really humid. Because of the altitude its hard to predict. Last year i arrived there about this time and it was 28º, the next day there was a change and it dropped to 10º in the day!

They say it is kind of becoming the new york of the tropics, the nightlife is excellent, the people are becoming very business oriented, its a very rapidly growing city.

  2. It's a big city, the best city for business, people are almost always in a rush, it's actually the biggest city in South America, for being a big city you have to beware of crime and violence, but that's some common of any big city, right ?! think about NYC for example...

    Visit this web page :

I'm actually from Natal, far from Sao Paulo, so I've never been there except in the airports ehehhe, but you'll find many useful facts in this site, I hope it's useful...but beforehand I can tell you, you'll find the most mixed up races and cultures over there...brazilians that descend from chinese, german, indian, portuguese, spanish...everything !!! So you'll have a great variety of cuisine and cultural thoughts...well, if you're looking into business or if you like big cities, you'll totally like it there, plus you can always visit other places over there, be sure to go to the Northeast if you like beaches and hot weather...

    :*)

  3. Big, Busy, Lots of good restaurants, used to be cheap but is now expensive.  Lots of tall modern apartment and office buildings, many shanty town favelas surrounding the city and has some security problems, but nowhere near as much as people who haven't been there say.

  4. Huge and fun.

  5. good answers above. Once in Sao Paulo you must go to Vila Madalena and check on the amazing restaurants and cafes. Great food, environment and people! A visit to bixiga (italian spot) a must!

Will love the japanese section called "Liberdade".
