  1. One example:

    Lighting color is based on emissions of lamps (fluorescent, filament, arc, etc.).  To achieve the proper reflected colors to create warmth or 'cold', one must know the color spectrum of the lighting in addition to selecting the wall colors.  To fully understand the spectrum you need to know a bit about quantum physics (not much), blackbody radiation, absorbtion and emission of materials (materials science), etc.

    You can select a particular color that may look great in the paint store, but when you get home the harsh lighting that is there might really mess it up.
