limestone and chalk wear away SLOWER than that of clay.  As clay are small sediments they erodes quite quickly.  Limestone has actually lithified as such it will take longer to erode.  It will erode fastest via chemical weathering as the water dissolves the rock.  These coasts usually form headlands, chalk shorelines usually form cliffs without much headland area.
