    Wet scrubbing using a slurry of sorbent, usually limestone or lime, to scrub the gases.

    Spray-dry scrubbing using similar sorbent slurries.



    Dry sorbent injection systems.




  2. As sulphur dioxide is an acidic gas it is usually removed by passing it over a cheap base.  Lime (CaO) or Limestone (CaCO3) have both been used for this purpose.
