How's the scenery there and such? I'm planning on relocating there sometime soon, and was wondering what's it like.

  1. I have a friend here from the US (18 months) that lives on the base. He says "I like it here but I hate the women". But that's because he goes to all the wrong places to meet people and...he has an attitude that doesn't set well with the local girls.

It's a desert like scape but the balmy breeze keeps the temperature perfect year round. We have great night life, beautiful white sandy beaches and plenty of Americans. If you get lonely for your familiar life style, hit the hotels at happy hour, you'll have Americans aplenty and will remember what a rat race we live in and what a relaxed way of life is lead on the island. Go to www.aruba.com to see things to do and learn some history. You won't have any language barrier 90% of the locals speak english.

  2. I don't know about the air base but have been to Aruba twice.  Its a small island that is very dry and arid, kinda like the desert southwest US with cactus and scrub brush.  It does not have trees or any places where it is really green and lush.  Its like a desert island with some great beaches.  It's windy there all of the time with a breeze blowing about 15 MPH.  That's good because it cuts the heat and humidity down.

The islands has a couple main town and lots of beach hotels, some with casinos.  There is not much see there and you can tour the island in about half a day.  Its a great place to go for great beaches but I don't think I would want to live there.
