How is the CHL host selected?

Are they selected at the beginning of the season or does a team have to work for it?

Each league tries to pick a city that has a competitive team as the Host team generally qualifies automatically (there are provisions to change this oif the host team is inept)

They are chosen a year in advance, alternating leagues.......next year QMJHL (Rimouski) and the year after the WHL.

Then it will go back to an OHL host.

bob's right. it's always alternating between the chl leagues involved.

sometimes i like to think that there's a trend between the winning memorial cup team becoming a host team a couple years later...but it's nothing concrete. see rimouski won in 2000, and in 2009 they'll be the host team. rangers won 2003, and in 2008 kitchener's the host team. the weirdest one was in 94 when the blazers won and the year after they were the host team.

if it's gonna go back to the w in 2010, you think kelowna is going to be host? they were the 04 winners.

also lity's right. the host team has to be a competitive team, and the city has to be able to support the event as well.
