Question:

How is the Direct TV service?

I'm considering getting comcast cable/internet or verizon dsl/direct tv. How does the direct tv service compare to cable. Any problems receiving a signal or anything? It seems to cost about the same as comcast yet you get more channels and free premium channels for the first four months.

  1. I just got ride of my Direct TV, maybe it's just me but everytime it was cloudy, or raining, or windy, or even really cold out I'd lose picture. Sometimes for no reason at all! So I finally got rid of it and I'm back to having my five local channels. :(

  2. Directv loses signal very easily in stormy weather.  That part really sucks.  Other that that it is just fine, though.  I have the DVR, and keep several shows recorded throughout the week, then anytime it rains and I lose signal for 30 minutes or so, I just watch one of my recorded shows.

  3. I have been a very happy DirecTV customer for eight years now.

It is true there is occasional rain-fade but it is not frequent. Make sure the tech who installs the system gets it pointed real good and that will minimize rain fade.

A buddy of mine has Dish but DirecTV offers more channels per price level.

I had cable at one time but their customer service was horrible.
