I believe EU is viewed positively by the public in Asia.  In particular, most Asian appreciate the environmental and human rights standards that have been adopted by the EU.

The media view is less clear, and probably mixed.  This is partly because media in Asia is not "free" as their counterpart in the west.  

I have no insight as to how the Asia's Elite view EU.

the EU is seen as contributor to neo colonialist ideal such as strong advocates of the WTO with the purpose to destabalize smaller industries and widen the scope of MNCs. Asia and the rest of the peripheral territories see this a means to encourage dependancy.

The EU serve this purpose on behalf of the elite
